Nigerian international striker Gift Orban is close to finalizing a loan move to French club Toulouse from German Bundesliga side Hoffenheim, BenriNews reports.

The 22-year-old forward only joined Hoffenheim in January this year after spending just one year with another French outfit, Olympic Lyon.

According to French news outlet Foot Mercato, Orban is now set to make a swift return to Ligue 1 with Toulouse, marking his second stint in French football within a short period.

Signs of the imminent move were evident when Orban was notably absent from Hoffenheim's squad for their DFB Pokal victory against Hansa Rostock on Saturday, fueling speculation about his departure.

During his brief spell with Hoffenheim, the powerful Nigerian forward has netted seven goals in 29 appearances across all competitions for the German club, nicknamed the Village Boys.

Despite having four years remaining on his contract with Hoffenheim, the club appears willing to allow Orban to gain more playing time elsewhere, potentially to help him rediscover the form that made him a sought-after talent in European football.

Toulouse, who finished 14th in Ligue 1 last season, will be hoping Orban can strengthen their attacking options as they aim to improve their standing in the French top flight during the 2025/26 campaign.

The move represents another chapter in Orban's European journey, which has seen him play in Belgium with Gent before his moves to Lyon and Hoffenheim.
