Nigerian international midfielder Wilfred Ndidi is set to make his competitive debut for Turkish giants Besiktas in their league fixture against Eyupspor on Sunday, August 17, 2025.

The 28-year-old defensive midfielder, who recently completed a permanent transfer from English Championship side Leicester City, signed a three-year contract with Besiktas earlier this month, with an option for an additional year.

Ndidi was named among the substitutes during Besiktas' UEFA Europa Conference League qualifying match against St Patrick's Athletic in midweek, where the Turkish side secured a 3-2 victory and advanced to the playoff round with a 5-2 aggregate score.

The Nigerian midfielder's experience is expected to be crucial for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team as they aim to challenge defending champions Galatasaray for the Turkish Super Lig title this season.

Ndidi's move to Turkey marks the end of his successful seven-year stint with Leicester City, where he established himself as one of the Premier League's most reliable defensive midfielders and played a key role in the Foxes' 2021 FA Cup triumph.

The Black Eagles will be hoping that Ndidi's renowned ball-winning abilities and tactical discipline will strengthen their midfield as they compete on multiple fronts this season, including domestic competitions and the UEFA Europa Conference League.
