Controversial Nigerian musician Portable has vehemently denied allegations of theft leveled against him by social media critic VeryDarkMan, releasing a diss track to counter the claims.
The heated exchange began after VeryDarkMan urged President Bola Tinubu to address the ongoing killings in Benue State and the economic hardship facing Nigerians. Portable responded by criticizing VeryDarkMan for calling out the President, suggesting that the social media critic only began enjoying a luxurious lifestyle during Tinubu's administration.
In retaliation, VeryDarkMan released an old video allegedly showing Portable being beaten for stealing a tricycle (Keke) in 2020, before his rise to fame. The social media personality further escalated the feud on Wednesday by releasing a diss track taunting Portable with chants of "Ole!" (thief).
Portable quickly responded with his own diss track, a snippet of which he shared on Instagram. In the track, he categorically denied the theft allegations, stating: "VeryDarkMan, your mother. You're a poor person. Your father is a shoe maker, I take after my father I'm not a thief. Stop calling me a thief."
The musician also made personal attacks against VeryDarkMan, accusing him of being "gay" in what appears to be an attempt to discredit his critic.
This latest controversy adds to the growing list of public feuds involving both personalities, who have become known for their outspoken nature and willingness to engage in public disputes.
The exchange highlights the increasingly common use of social media platforms by Nigerian celebrities to air grievances and engage in public disputes, often resulting in viral moments that capture public attention.
