A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has declared that the massive crowd that welcomed former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi, to Port Harcourt on Wednesday signals that the 2027 elections will usher in a new government across Nigeria, particularly in Rivers State.
In a statement released on Thursday, Eze suggested that Amaechi's strategic moves ahead of the 2027 general elections have already created significant anxiety among political rivals and opposition groups.
BenriNews previously reported that the former Rivers State governor had revealed that coalition leaders would fully support whoever emerges as the party's presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.
Eze emphasized that Amaechi's role in forming the coalition, which has adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its political vehicle to challenge President Bola Tinubu's APC government, mirrors the same determination he demonstrated in 2015 when he helped establish the APC and bring it to power.
"For Amaechi to dump the APC, a party he midwifed and brought to limelight with some Nigerians, I can authoritatively say he is on a mission to recover Rivers State from the hands of undemocratic forces that have turned the state into a laughing stock amongst democratic society," Eze stated.
The APC chieftain described Amaechi's transition to the ADC as both historical and purposeful, aimed at redirecting Nigeria toward a path of sustainable development.
"The mammoth crowd that took to the streets to accord Amaechi a rousing welcome back to the State demonstrates the acceptance of ADC as the party to form the next government in Rivers State come 2027," he added.
Eze further claimed that the enthusiastic reception proves Amaechi remains beloved by Rivers people, describing it as "a testament to the fact that his love for the development and emancipation of the State and her people is unparalleled and infectious."
According to the statement, Amaechi is playing a pivotal role in positioning the ADC as a formidable platform that aims to defeat President Tinubu in the next election cycle. Eze claimed that "most of the people that thought Amaechi is finished politically are now pleading to join the 2027 ADC train."
In related developments, Nentawe Yilwatda has emerged as the new APC National Chairman, following a crucial National Executive Committee meeting attended by President Tinubu, Vice President Shettima, and other party leaders.
