Former Senate President and Interim National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), David Mark, has raised concerns that the current administration may attempt to use the judiciary to undermine the party's growing momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Mark issued this warning during a meeting with the National Legal Support Group of the ADC in Abuja, where he described the party as "the one to beat in 2027."

"ADC is the party to beat in 2027. The current administration may attempt to use the courts to frustrate our momentum," he cautioned, urging Nigerians to support the ADC as a credible and patriotic alternative to lead the country forward.

Formidable Legal Team Assembled

The National Legal Support Group, led by Abdullahi Abdurrahman, revealed that over 310 lawyers have volunteered to defend the party in all ongoing and future legal cases across Nigeria. The team has representation in all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

"We are prepared to handle any case that may arise against ADC anywhere in the country," Abdurrahman stated during the meeting.

According to Abdurrahman, the legal team includes prominent figures such as the ADC's Legal Adviser, Peter Oyewole; former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN; and former Edo State Governor and legal scholar, Professor Oserheimen Osunbor.

The group expressed confidence in the current leadership's ability to transform the party and make meaningful contributions to national development, while praising Senator Mark's integrity and statesmanship.

Legal Protocols in Place

Responding to concerns about potential legal challenges, the party's Legal Adviser, Peter Oyewole, assured that all legal protocols surrounding the recent coalition that birthed the new ADC were properly followed.

"There is no cause for alarm," Oyewole stated, emphasizing that the party has taken all necessary legal precautions.

Senator Mark commended the legal team for their dedication and encouraged them to remain alert and proactive as the party positions itself as a strong contender in the next general elections.

With a growing grassroots presence and this formidable legal structure now in place, the ADC appears determined to defend its vision and actively engage in the 2027 political contest despite anticipated challenges.
