Nigerian international Ademola Lookman has officially informed Atalanta of his desire to leave the club during the current summer transfer window, with Inter Milan emerging as his preferred destination.
According to renowned football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the 27-year-old forward is keen on joining the Serie A champions following recent discussions between Inter Milan and the player's representatives.
"Ademola Lookman, keen on Inter move after further contacts tonight with his camp. He told Atalanta he wants to leave," Romano revealed via his X account on Wednesday night.
"Inter will soon submit their initial bid for Nigerian forward while Atalanta insist on more than €40m for Italian clubs," the transfer specialist added.
Lookman has been a standout performer for Atalanta since joining from RB Leipzig in 2022. His most notable achievement came last season when he played a pivotal role in helping the Bergamo-based club secure their first-ever Europa League trophy.
The Nigerian attacker's potential move to Inter Milan would represent another significant step in his career, joining the reigning Italian champions who are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of their title defense and Champions League campaign.
While Lookman has made his intentions clear, negotiations between the clubs may prove challenging with Atalanta reportedly setting a minimum asking price of €40 million for transfers to fellow Italian clubs.
BenriNews understands that Inter Milan is preparing to submit their initial offer for the Nigerian international in the coming days, though it remains to be seen whether they will meet Atalanta's valuation.
