The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has expressed profound sorrow over the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, acknowledging his service to the nation despite political differences.
In a condolence message signed by CUPP's National Secretary, Chief Peter Ameh, the coalition noted that Buhari's tenure forms a significant part of Nigeria's leadership history, having served as Military Head of State from 1983 to 1985 and as a two-term civilian president from 2015 to 2023.
"Despite our differences as opposition, we acknowledge his service to Nigeria and the challenges he faced in leadership," the statement read.
The coalition extended heartfelt condolences to Buhari's family and all Nigerians during this period of national grief, praying for the peaceful repose of the former president's soul.
CUPP used the occasion to call for reflection among current leaders, urging those in office to prioritize providing basic necessities such as quality healthcare facilities to improve citizens' lives.
