The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Benue State has officially commenced its membership registration exercise, attracting a significant influx of members from major political parties including the All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Labour Party.

The registration process was flagged off on Friday at the party's state secretariat in Makurdi by the ADC Interim Chairman in Benue, Terngu Tsegba, following an inaugural meeting with the state committee and chairmen from all 23 local government areas.

During the launch event, Tsegba instructed the local government party chairmen to extend the ADC's reach to rural communities and welcome all citizens willing to join what he described as a coalition movement. He emphasized that the party belongs to the people and is positioned to rescue the nation from its current challenges.

"Take the ADC to the rural dwellers and open your arms to embrace all people willing to join in the coalition movement," Tsegba directed the local government chairmen.

BenriNews gathered that by Saturday, July 12, thousands of politicians had already registered with the ADC, including members defecting from the PDP, Labour Party, and disgruntled members of the ruling APC.

The ADC has recently gained prominence nationally after being adopted by opposition leaders reportedly planning to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the upcoming general elections. This development appears to be strengthening the party's position in Benue State as it continues to attract members from across the political spectrum.

Political analysts suggest this mass movement could significantly alter the political landscape in Benue State ahead of future elections, potentially creating a formidable opposition force against the established parties.
