Dele Momodu, publisher of Ovation International Magazine, has asserted that Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike cannot defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) because such a move would diminish his political influence.

Speaking during an interview on Arise TV on Wednesday, Momodu attributed Wike's current political stance to lingering resentment over failing to secure both the presidential and vice-presidential tickets of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

"Just because Wike lost presidential bid and vice-presidential bid, he has become inconsolable. I say this every time I speak about him," Momodu stated. "He has this anger. He cannot forgive."

The media mogul challenged Wike to join the ruling party if he had the courage, noting that President Bola Tinubu had previously extended an invitation to the FCT Minister to join the APC.

"If you have Tinubu behind you, you will be powerful. I dare Wike to join APC tomorrow," Momodu declared. "If Wike has the guts, he should join the APC. The other day, Tinubu told him he is welcome to join the APC."

According to Momodu, Wike's reluctance stems from his desire to maintain his dominant position within the PDP rather than potentially becoming subordinate in the APC. "He cannot [join APC]. Because for him, it is better to reign in hell than to serve in heaven. He's a don in the PDP," Momodu explained.

The comments come amid ongoing speculation about potential political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, with several prominent politicians reportedly considering changing party affiliations.

Wike, who served as Rivers State Governor for eight years before his ministerial appointment in the Tinubu administration, has maintained a complex relationship with the PDP leadership since losing the party's presidential primary to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in 2022.
