Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo has revealed his favorite Nigerian dish to be pounded yam and okro soup, highlighting his Nigerian heritage as he contemplates his international future.

The 27-year-old center-back, who joined Chelsea from Fulham in 2024, made the revelation after helping his team secure a 2-0 victory against Fluminense FC in the FIFA Club World Cup semifinal at the MetLife Stadium in the United States.

When asked about his favorite dish in a video posted on X, Adarabioyo smiled and responded: "Pounded yam and okro soup."

Born in London to Nigerian parents, Adarabioyo has established himself as one of the top defenders in Enzo Maresca's Chelsea team. Despite having represented England at youth levels (U16, U17, U18, and U19), he remains eligible to play for either Nigeria or England at senior international level.

The defender's cultural connection comes to light as he continues to impress at the ongoing FIFA Club World Cup. Chelsea's victory, powered by Joao Pedro's brace against Fluminense, has earned them a place in the final where they will face either Real Madrid or Paris Saint-Germain, who play their semifinal on Wednesday.

Chelsea's progression to the final has reportedly earned the club approximately £80 million, adding financial success to their on-field achievements in the tournament.

Adarabioyo's revelation about his favorite Nigerian dish adds to the growing interest in his international future, with many Nigerian football fans hoping he will choose to represent the Super Eagles.
