Former Minister of Sports and interim spokesperson for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Bolaji Abdullahi, has launched a scathing critique of President Bola Tinubu's administration, declaring that the much-touted 'Renewed Hope Agenda' has deteriorated into a "theatre of hardship and hopelessness."
Speaking during an appearance on Channels Television's 'Politics Today' on Wednesday, Abdullahi pointed to widespread economic difficulties and security challenges as evidence that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has failed to deliver on its promises to Nigerians.
"In two years, hope has become hopelessness. You know? I mean, look at the parameters. Look at the parameters," Abdullahi stated, emphasizing what he described as a collapse of accountability in governance under the current administration.
The former minister clarified that the ADC coalition is not merely seeking power for its own sake. Instead, he explained, the party is focused on building a political organization where discipline, equity, and internal democracy are firmly entrenched.
Abdullahi described the ADC as a "vehicle to build a values-based party" designed to outlive its current members and withstand the test of time, suggesting a long-term vision that contrasts with what he portrays as the APC's short-term thinking.
His comments come amid growing public discourse about Nigeria's political landscape ahead of the 2027 elections, with opposition parties positioning themselves as alternatives to the ruling APC.
The criticism adds to mounting pressure on President Tinubu's administration, which has implemented several economic reforms that have been met with mixed reactions from Nigerians, many of whom are struggling with rising costs of living and persistent security challenges.
