Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has made striking claims about President Bola Tinubu's popularity, stating that the president faces a 91 percent disapproval rating in both the Northern region and Southeast of Nigeria.

El-Rufai made these assertions during an interview on Arise Television's Prime Time on Monday evening, where he delivered a scathing assessment of Tinubu's two-year tenure.

Widespread Disapproval Across Regions

According to the Social Democratic Party chieftain, polling conducted in various parts of the country revealed dismal approval numbers for the president, even in his traditional strongholds.

"We have done some polling in many parts of the country, particularly in the southeast and the north, President Tinubu has a 91% disapproval rating, even in Lagos he has a 78% disapproval rating," El-Rufai stated.

He added that while Tinubu performs slightly better in some Southwestern states like Ondo and Ekiti compared to Lagos, the president still fails to achieve positive ratings above 50 percent anywhere in the country, including his Southwest base.

Performance Criticism

El-Rufai didn't mince words in his evaluation of Tinubu's administration, declaring bluntly: "The guy is gone, he has performed miserably."

The former governor highlighted three key areas where he believes the administration has failed: the economy, security, and trade policies.

"The economy has stopped, the insecurity architecture has failed, there are no clear trade and investment policies, and everything is going wrong," El-Rufai asserted.

He also questioned the administration's financial management, stating: "They are raising lots of revenues but we don't know where the revenues are going because there are no results."

El-Rufai challenged Nigerians to reflect on their circumstances since Tinubu took office on May 29, 2023, suggesting that if their lives haven't improved, they should consider giving "some other people a chance."

The president's office has not yet responded to these allegations at the time of reporting.
