Notorious bandit leader Bello Turji has reportedly killed 44 security operatives in a deadly ambush near Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State. The attack claimed the lives of 40 members of the Joint Task Force (JTF) and four soldiers, according to security reports.

Security analyst Bakatsine revealed the incident in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday. The insurgents also reportedly set fire to a military vehicle during the assault.

"Bello Turji reportedly killed 40 JTF members and four soldiers near Shinkafi LGA, Zamfara State, burning a military vehicle," Bakatsine wrote.

Execution Video Released

In a disturbing development, Turji also released a video showing the execution of ex-bandit Bashari Maniya. According to reports, Turji accused Maniya of collaborating with security forces after abandoning banditry.

As of the time of filing this report, authorities have yet to officially confirm the incident, raising concerns about the security situation in the northwestern state.

This attack comes amid ongoing security challenges in Zamfara and neighboring states, where bandit groups have carried out numerous kidnappings, killings, and cattle rustling operations over the past several years.

Bello Turji has been identified as one of the most notorious bandit leaders operating in Nigeria's northwest region, with authorities linking him to multiple attacks on communities and security forces.
