Nigerian international defender Leon Balogun has wasted no time integrating with his new team, as he began training with Cypriot club Aris Limassol on Friday, just a day after his transfer was officially announced.

The 36-year-old center-back signed a one-year contract with the former Cypriot First Division champions on Thursday, marking a new chapter in his extensive professional career.

European Competition Ahead

Aris Limassol, nicknamed the Light Brigade, are currently in pre-season preparation for both their domestic campaign and European competition. The club will compete in the UEFA Conference League, facing Hungarian side Puskas Akademia FC in the second qualifying round next month.

The first leg is scheduled for Thursday, July 24, at the Alphamega Stadium in Cyprus, with the return fixture taking place a week later at the Pancho Arena in Hungary.

Wealth of Experience

Balogun brings considerable experience to his new club, having played for several prominent teams across Europe, including clubs in Germany, England, and Scotland. His international pedigree is equally impressive, with 46 caps for Nigeria's Super Eagles.

The defender has represented Nigeria at both the Africa Cup of Nations and the FIFA World Cup, experience that will be invaluable to Aris Limassol as they navigate domestic and European competitions.

Balogun's signing represents a significant addition to Aris Limassol's defensive lineup, with the club hoping his leadership and defensive acumen will strengthen their backline for the upcoming season.
