The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has released a comprehensive weather forecast predicting thunderstorms and rainfall across the country from Monday, June 16 to Wednesday, June 18, 2025.
According to the weather outlook released in Abuja, the northern region will experience morning thunderstorms on Monday, with moderate rains expected over parts of Kaduna, Adamawa, and Taraba states. Later in the day, thunderstorms with rains are anticipated in Borno, Zamfara, Bauchi, Kaduna, Taraba, Jigawa, Kano, Kebbi, Katsina, and Adamawa states.
North-Central and Southern Regions
For the North-central region, NiMet forecasts morning thunderstorms with rains over the Federal Capital Territory, Niger, Kwara, Plateau, Kogi, Benue, and Nasarawa states, with thunderstorms expected across the entire region by afternoon or evening.
The southern region will likely see morning rains in Ebonyi, Abia, Oyo, Osun, Ekiti, Ogun, Rivers, Lagos, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River states. By afternoon and evening, thunderstorms and rain showers are expected to extend to Enugu, Imo, Anambra, Ondo, Edo, Delta, and Bayelsa states.
Tuesday's Weather Outlook
On Tuesday, the northern region will experience morning thunderstorms with rains over Kebbi, Kaduna, Adamawa, Bauchi, and Zamfara states. Later in the day, thunderstorms with rains will likely affect Bauchi, Gombe, Zamfara, Kano, Borno, Kaduna, Katsina, Kebbi, and Sokoto states.
The North-central region will see cloudy skies with morning thunderstorms and rains over the Federal Capital Territory, Plateau, and Nasarawa states, while afternoon and evening will bring thunderstorms to Kogi, Kwara, Niger, Benue, and other parts of the region.
In the southern region, morning rains are expected over Ogun, Ondo, Cross River, Rivers, and Lagos states.
Wednesday's Forecast
Wednesday morning will bring thunderstorms with rains to Kebbi, Zamfara, Bauchi, Adamawa, and Taraba states in the northern region. By afternoon and evening, thunderstorms with rains will extend to Jigawa, Gombe, Kano, Katsina, Sokoto, and other northern states.
The North-central region will experience patches of clouds with sunshine intervals and morning thunderstorms with rains over Benue and Kogi states. Later in the day, thunderstorms with rains will affect the Federal Capital Territory, Niger, Kwara, Plateau, and Nasarawa states.
For the southern region, a cloudy atmosphere is expected with chances of morning rains over Ogun and Lagos states, followed by isolated thunderstorms with rains over most parts of the region later in the day.
