The Nigerian government has officially launched the digital portal for the forthcoming Nigeria Youth Conference, also known as the National Youth Confab, aimed at engaging young Nigerians in policy discussions and national development initiatives.

Minister of Youth Development, Ayode Olawande, announced the launch on Monday, emphasizing that the conference will be "inclusive, non-partisan and youth-led." The theme of the confab is "Next Gen Nigeria: Crafting Solutions, Owning the Future."

According to Olawande, the newly launched portal will serve as a comprehensive platform for delegates to register, contribute ideas, and receive real-time updates throughout the duration of the conference.

More Than Just a Conference

The minister described the initiative as "more than just a conference," calling it "a generational turning point, a national movement, and a call to action" for Nigerian youth to participate in shaping the country's future.

The National Youth Confab was first announced by President Bola Tinubu during his Independence Day broadcast in October 2024. The President envisioned a 30-day conference that would give young Nigerians a platform to contribute to national discourse.

In March this year, President Tinubu officially inaugurated a 44-member Planning Committee for the National Youth Conference at the State House in Abuja, signaling the government's commitment to the initiative.

The launch of the portal marks a significant step forward in the government's efforts to engage youth in governance and policy formulation, particularly at a time when young Nigerians are increasingly vocal about their role in the country's development.

As the conference approaches, observers will be watching closely to see how effectively the government implements this youth engagement strategy and whether it translates into meaningful policy outcomes.
