Nigerian forward David Okereke is on the verge of completing a permanent transfer to newly promoted Turkish Super Lig club Kocaelispor, with personal terms reportedly already agreed between both parties.

The 26-year-old striker, who spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Gaziantep from Italian Serie B side Cremonese, impressed during his temporary spell in Turkey, registering 10 goals and providing three assists in 30 league appearances.

Kocaelispor's technical director, Selçuk İnan, who previously worked with Okereke during his time at Gaziantep, is reportedly pushing strongly for the transfer to be completed. The Nigerian forward's goal-scoring prowess has made him an attractive prospect for the newly promoted side looking to strengthen their squad ahead of the upcoming Super Lig campaign.

However, Kocaelispor may face competition for Okereke's signature, as fellow Turkish club Kasimpasa has also expressed interest in acquiring the Nigerian international.

Okereke's potential move to Kocaelispor would mark another chapter in his career, which has seen him play for clubs in both Italy and Turkey. His consistent goal-scoring record in the Turkish top flight has made him a valuable target for clubs looking to bolster their attacking options.

The transfer would represent a significant acquisition for Kocaelispor as they prepare for life in the Turkish Super Lig following their promotion.
