Galatasaray vice president Ibrahim Hatipoglu has expressed growing confidence that Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen will remain with the Turkish champions on a permanent basis following his exceptional loan spell.
Osimhen, who has a €75 million release clause in his contract, made a significant impact during his time with Galatasaray, helping the club secure both the Turkish Super Lig and Turkish Cup titles last season. The Nigerian international's contribution was remarkable, with 37 goals and eight assists in 41 appearances across all competitions.
"When they offered us Osimhen, we didn't need a striker, but we signed him in two days," Hatipoglu told AS. "Abdullah Kavukcu, head of transfers, is handling the process alongside Italian agent George Gardi. With each passing day, the chances of Osimhen staying at Galatasaray increases."
Osimhen Rejects Saudi Move
The 25-year-old striker has already turned down a lucrative offer from Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal, indicating his preference to continue his career in European football. This decision has strengthened Galatasaray's position as frontrunners to secure his signature on a permanent deal.
Osimhen's impressive form in Turkey has come after a period of uncertainty regarding his future at Napoli, where he had previously established himself as one of Serie A's premier strikers. His successful adaptation to Turkish football has made him a fan favorite at Galatasaray.
The Yellow and Reds are now working on finalizing what would be one of their most significant transfers in recent years, with negotiations ongoing to meet the substantial release clause in Osimhen's contract.
For Nigerian football fans, Osimhen's potential permanent move to Galatasaray represents continued stability for one of the country's most prominent footballing exports, especially after his rejection of the Saudi Arabian offer demonstrated his commitment to competing at the highest levels of European football.
