Nigerian defender Bright Osayi-Samuel has agreed to join Turkish Super Lig giants Besiktas on a free transfer after failing to renew his contract with Fenerbahce.

The Black and Whites have reportedly met the 27-year-old's €2.5 million annual salary demands, paving the way for his move across Istanbul when his current contract expires at the end of June.

According to sources close to the deal, Osayi-Samuel is expected to undergo medical examinations this week to finalize the transfer.

Four-Year Fenerbahce Stint Comes to an End

The Nigerian international joined Fenerbahce in 2021 and has been a consistent performer for the Yellow Canaries over the past four seasons. During his time with the club, Osayi-Samuel made 120 league appearances and contributed six goals.

His versatility and defensive prowess have made him a valuable asset in Turkish football, attracting interest from several clubs including Crystal Palace and Ligue 1 side Rennes in recent months.

The move to Besiktas represents a significant transfer within the highly competitive Istanbul football scene, with Osayi-Samuel set to face his former club in the upcoming season's derby matches.

This transfer comes after Fenerbahce endured a trophyless season, which prompted public comments from their manager José Mourinho about "strange things" happening at the club.
