Nigerian referee Yemisi Eunice Akintoye has earned a prestigious appointment as one of the 18 officials selected by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to officiate at the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The 30-year-old Akintoye, who is a member of the Lagos State Football Referees Council, secured her place following an outstanding performance at the preparatory course held in Cairo, Egypt.

This appointment adds to Akintoye's growing reputation in African football. She has previously officiated matches in both the WAFU Women's Champions League and the CAF Women's Champions League, demonstrating her capability at the highest levels of women's football on the continent.

Morocco will host the WAFCON 2024 finals from July 5 to July 26, 2025. The tournament brings together the top women's national teams from across Africa to compete for the continental championship.
