The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed former Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) president, Amaju Pinnick, as special adviser to CAF President Patrice Motsepe. The appointment was approved by CAF's executive committee on Saturday, marking a significant milestone in Pinnick's administrative career in African football.

With this new role, the 54-year-old Nigerian football administrator will now attend CAF's executive meetings, allowing him to contribute to high-level decision-making processes within the continental football governing body.

This appointment comes shortly after Pinnick lost his seat in the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) executive committee. During his tenure, he was the third Nigerian to serve on the FIFA council, following in the footsteps of Oyo Orok Oyo and Amos Adamu.

Industry observers view this appointment as a clear recognition of Pinnick's contributions to football development across the African continent. His experience in football administration spans several years, during which he implemented various initiatives aimed at improving the standard of the sport in Nigeria and Africa at large.

Pinnick's appointment is expected to strengthen CAF's administrative structure as the organization continues to work towards elevating African football on the global stage.
