England captain Harry Kane has attributed his team's surprising 3-1 defeat to Senegal in Tuesday's international friendly to poor performance, stating that the Three Lions "were not good enough" against the West African side.

The match, played at City Ground, saw England suffer their first-ever defeat against an African opponent despite taking an early lead through Kane's goal in the seventh minute.

"Not good enough. We had moments, but with and without the ball things aren't clicking, we're not finding the right tempo," Kane explained in his post-match interview. "We have lost that aggressive nature that we had."

Historic Victory for Senegal

Senegal mounted an impressive comeback with goals from Ismaila Sarr, Habib Diarra, and Cheikh Sabaly to secure a historic 3-1 victory. This result marks a significant milestone as Senegal became the first African nation to defeat England in international football.

The Bayern Munich striker also emphasized that England must improve quickly if they hope to be serious contenders for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, following this disappointing performance under manager Thomas Tuchel.

The defeat raises questions about England's form and tactical approach as they continue their preparations for upcoming international competitions.
