Several travelers were abducted when armed bandits laid an ambush along the Gusau–Kaura Namoda road in Zamfara State on Tuesday evening.
The attack occurred at a location known as Mangwaron Mutuwa shortly after the Muslim Maghrib prayer, according to security reports.
A prominent security analyst identified as Bakatsine revealed the incident in a post shared on Wednesday via his X (formerly Twitter) account. According to the analyst, the bandits opened fire on vehicles and forcefully abducted multiple passengers.
"Bandits ambushed travelers on the Gusau–Kaura Namoda road at Mangwaron Mutuwa, yesterday after Maghrib prayer. A driver escaped after they shot out his tires, but several others were abducted," the security analyst stated.
One driver reportedly managed to escape the attack after the bandits shot at his vehicle's tires. However, the exact number of abducted travelers remains unconfirmed as of the time of this report.
Authorities in Zamfara State have yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.
This attack adds to the growing security concerns in Zamfara State, which has been grappling with banditry and kidnapping for ransom in recent years.
