The Katsina State Police Command has successfully foiled a kidnap attempt and rescued 11 abducted victims along the Danmusa to Mara Dangeza village road in Danmusa Local Government Area of the state.

According to a statement released on Monday by the Command's Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, the rescued victims include nine females and two males who were freed during a joint security operation.

Joint Security Operation

"On June 8, 2025, at about 2230 hrs (10:30 pm), a joint security team comprising police operatives, the military, DSS, a team of Operation Sharan Daji operatives, members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps, and vigilantes, while on a routine patrol along the Danmusa to Mara Dangeza village road, Danmusa LGA, Katsina State, successfully foiled the kidnap attempt and rescued the victims," the statement detailed.

The police spokesman further revealed that investigation is currently ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects and prevent similar incidents in the future.

Commissioner's Commendation

The Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Shehu, has commended the operatives for their "uncommon act of bravery" and reaffirmed the Command's commitment to fighting the menace of kidnapping in Katsina State in collaboration with other security agencies.

This rescue operation comes amid increasing security concerns in the northwestern region of Nigeria, where kidnapping for ransom has become a persistent challenge for security forces and communities.

The successful operation demonstrates the effectiveness of collaborative efforts between various security agencies in combating criminal activities in the state.
