Officials from the Kebbi State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) conducted an assessment visit to the Kara Timber Market in Birnin Kebbi on Sunday following an early morning fire outbreak that devastated sections of the market.
The delegation was led by SEMA Chairman Bello Yakubu Rilisco and Executive Director Alh. Abubakar Abdullahi Tuleje, who met with affected traders and inspected the destroyed areas to evaluate the extent of damage caused by the fire.
Governor's Directive for Prompt Response
The assessment visit was carried out following specific instructions from Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris, who directed relevant agencies to respond swiftly to the needs of those affected by the incident.
SEMA officials confirmed they are currently compiling a comprehensive assessment report that will guide potential government intervention and relief efforts for the affected traders.
"We are working diligently to complete our assessment and provide the necessary information to the state government for appropriate action," a SEMA official stated during the visit.
