The Nigerian Air Force has conducted successful air interdiction operations against Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorist enclaves in Talala and Ajigin within Borno State's Timbuktu Triangle, neutralizing numerous fighters and destroying critical logistics infrastructure.
The precision airstrikes, carried out on May 7, 2025, at approximately 5:30 p.m., were executed by the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai as part of the ongoing military campaign codenamed Operation KALACHEN WUTA II, according to counter-insurgency analyst Zagazola Makama.
Intelligence-Led Operation
Military intelligence sources revealed that the operation was initiated following credible intelligence and surveillance reports indicating ISWAP terrorists were regrouping and accumulating supplies for planned coordinated attacks in the region.
"Our ISR platforms had earlier picked up significant terrorist activities at the Talala and Ajigin axes, indicating that the enemy was regrouping and storing logistics in preparation for coordinated attacks," intelligence sources were quoted as saying.
Devastating Impact on Terrorist Infrastructure
The precision-guided engagement resulted in the elimination of scores of terrorists and the destruction of numerous logistics assets, including makeshift structures, weapons caches, and mobility platforms.
Post-strike intelligence monitoring revealed significant disruption to the insurgents' operational capabilities, with preliminary assessments indicating widespread panic and disarray within ISWAP ranks. Surviving fighters reportedly displayed confusion, severely hampering their tactical positioning.
"This operation sends a clear message: wherever the enemy attempts to find cover, we will find them, and we will strike with precision and resolve," the military source emphasized.
The successful airstrikes represent another significant blow to terrorist operations in Nigeria's northeast, where military forces continue to maintain pressure on insurgent groups.
