The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has successfully thwarted planned terrorist attacks in Borno State through precision airstrikes targeting key Boko Haram hideouts in the southern Tumbuns region.

According to Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information at NAF Headquarters, the operation was conducted following credible intelligence about imminent attacks planned to disrupt Eid celebrations in the region.

Strategic Strikes on Terrorist Hideouts

The airstrikes specifically targeted terrorist structures in Tumbumma Baba and Chiralia areas, which intelligence reports indicated were being used for storage and coordination of attacks. NAF aircraft delivered direct hits on these locations as part of Operation Hadin Kai.

"Acting on credible intelligence, NAF aircraft targeted terrorist structures reportedly used for storage and coordination, delivering direct hits and crippling planned attacks aimed at disrupting Eid celebrations," Ejodame stated.

The operation resulted in the neutralization of several terrorists and the destruction of key logistics structures, significantly diminishing the terrorists' operational capabilities in the region.

Commitment to Civilian Protection

Ejodame emphasized that the pre-emptive action underscores the Nigerian Air Force's commitment to safeguarding civilian lives and supporting national security objectives, particularly during important religious celebrations when terrorist groups often increase their activities.

This operation comes as part of ongoing efforts by Nigerian security forces to combat terrorism in the northeastern region, where Boko Haram and its factions have maintained a presence despite military pressure.

The successful airstrikes represent another milestone in the military's counter-terrorism strategy, which has increasingly relied on intelligence-led operations and air power to target terrorist strongholds while minimizing civilian casualties.
