The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has issued a stern warning to bandits terrorizing communities in Zamfara, Katsina, and other Northwestern states, declaring there will be "no hiding place" for those disrupting peace in the region.
Chief of Air Staff, Hasan Abubakar, delivered the uncompromising message during the Second Quarter Route March held in Abuja, extending the warning to terrorists operating in Borno State as well.
"To the enemies of our nation, know this: there will be no hiding place for those who threaten the peace and stability of Nigeria. We are coming for you. We will find you and take you out," Abubakar stated emphatically.
The Air Chief reassured Nigerians that NAF troops deployed across various operational theaters would not stand idle while terrorists disrupt national peace. "We will continue to defend every inch of our nation's airspace and stand firm in joint operations to protect lives and property across the country," he added.
Military Readiness and Presidential Support
During his address, Abubakar expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his "steadfast support to the Armed Forces," which he credited with enhancing both operational effectiveness and personnel welfare.
"On behalf of the officers, airmen and airwomen of the Nigerian Air Force, I reaffirm our unwavering loyalty to the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces," the Chief of Air Staff declared.
New Physical Fitness Requirements
Abubakar also highlighted significant changes to NAF's physical fitness policy, emphasizing its critical role in maintaining operational readiness.
"Physical fitness is no longer a matter of choice, it is a non-negotiable requirement," he stated. "As a matter of policy, I have directed that all Performance Evaluation Reports must be accompanied with Physical Fitness Test Certificates."
The Air Chief further emphasized that personnel would not be considered for promotion without meeting medical and physical fitness standards, underscoring the military's commitment to maintaining combat-ready forces capable of addressing security challenges across the nation.
This renewed commitment comes amid escalating security concerns in Nigeria's Northwest region, where banditry has displaced thousands and disrupted economic activities in recent years.
