The Nigerian Police Force has issued a stern warning that individuals found disrupting public peace during the upcoming Eid-el-Kabir celebration will face prosecution.
ASP Ibrahim Sunusi Idris of the Jigawa State Police Command made this known in an official statement released to BenriNews, emphasizing the force's zero-tolerance approach to public disorder during the festive period.
Comprehensive Security Measures Implemented
"The Command has activated a comprehensive, intelligence-led security architecture that spans all 27 Local Government Areas. This includes the strategic deployment of conventional and tactical teams to Eid prayer grounds, recreational centres, motor parks, markets, highways, Durbar grounds, and other critical infrastructure," the statement read.
The command emphasized its readiness to "frustrate, apprehend, and prosecute anyone who attempts to disrupt the peace" during the celebration.
Special Advisory for Parents and Horse Riders
In a bid to ensure maximum safety, the police have advised parents and guardians against allowing minors to operate vehicles during the festivities. The statement further directed that children must be accompanied by responsible adults in all public areas.
Horse riders have also been instructed to restrict their activities to private compounds or officially approved equestrian zones. The police warned that unauthorized displays would lead to arrest and legal action.
Jigawa State Commissioner of Police, A.T. Abdullahi, reaffirmed the command's commitment to protecting lives and property, stating that they "will stop at nothing to ensure that all residents and visitors celebrate in an atmosphere of peace, safety, and dignity."
The police's proactive measures come as part of broader security arrangements to ensure a peaceful celebration of the Islamic festival across the state.
