The Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Niger State Chapter, Most Rev. Dr. Bulus Dauwa Yohanna, has issued a heartfelt appeal to Nigerians to remember the people of Mokwa in their prayers during this year's Eid El Kabir celebration.

While extending his congratulations to Muslim faithful across the country, Bishop Yohanna, who also serves as the Catholic Bishop of Kontagora Diocese, expressed optimism that the current challenges facing Niger State would soon be overcome.

Call for Sober Reflection

In his Sallah message released on Friday, the CAN chairman urged residents of Niger State to use this sacred period for sober reflection and to seek divine intervention for the difficulties confronting the state.

"I want to urge us all to have hope in God and not give up on issues bedevilling the state, especially with the recent devastating flood that wrecked havoc in Mokwa Local Government Area," Yohanna stated.

"I urge everyone of us including the government to be our brothers' keepers. Let us remember our brothers and sisters who have lost their loved ones in the flood and pray for the souls of those who have died."

Promoting Unity and Compassion

The religious leader emphasized the importance of loving one's neighbors regardless of tribal or religious differences. He called on all citizens to become "agents of peaceful coexistence" and to unite in reaching out to those in desperate situations, particularly the flood victims in Mokwa.

Bishop Yohanna highlighted that Eid El Kabir represents love, peace, and sacrifice beyond just the festive season. He advocated for tolerance, synergy, and cooperation among all Nigerians to achieve common goals for the betterment of society.

"Let us all be agents of peaceful coexistence, united on all fronts and reach out to those in dire need especially those in Mokwa."

The CAN chairman also extended his congratulations to Governor Umaru Bago, the Council of Traditional Rulers, the Etsu Nupe, all royal fathers, and the entire Muslim community in Niger State.

The Mokwa flood has caused significant devastation in the local government area, leaving many families displaced and in need of urgent assistance. CAN has previously expressed its readiness to assist victims of this natural disaster.
