The Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) has successfully thwarted terrorist attacks on military personnel stationed in Buratai, Biu Local Government Area, and Mallam Fatori in Abadam Local Government Area of Borno State.
According to a statement released by Captain Reuben Kovanggiya, Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations Headquarters Theatre Command Operation HADIN KAI, the troops neutralized numerous terrorists and recovered various weapons during the operations.
Buratai Attack Repelled
The attempted infiltration in Buratai occurred in the early hours of Thursday, June 5, 2025, when terrorists tried to breach the troops' location from multiple directions using deceptive tactics. The vigilant troops responded swiftly with heavy gunfire while receiving crucial close air support from the Air Component.
Following the successful defense operation, military personnel recovered a substantial cache of assorted arms and ammunition from the fleeing terrorists.
Coordinated Defense at Mallam Fatori
In a separate but similar incident, troops stationed at Mallam Fatori also repelled an attack by insurgents who attempted to storm their location from different fronts. The military personnel engaged the attackers with superior firepower, forcing them to retreat in disarray.
With support from air platforms, the troops pursued the fleeing terrorists in various directions, neutralizing scores of insurgents in the process. The operation yielded significant results as troops recovered AK-47 rifles, General Purpose Machine Guns, Rocket Propelled Guns, and other equipment from the terrorists.
These successful defensive operations highlight the Nigerian military's continued efforts to maintain security and combat terrorism in the northeastern region of the country, particularly in Borno State, which has long been a hotspot for insurgent activities.
The military's swift response and tactical superiority in both incidents demonstrate their readiness and capability to protect Nigerian communities from terrorist threats.
