The Nigerian Army has successfully neutralized eight terrorists during a daring offensive operation in Katsina State, military authorities confirmed on Wednesday.
According to an official statement released by the Army through its verified social media channels, troops of Operation Fasan Yanma conducted the successful operation along the Kurfi-Batsari axis early Wednesday morning.
"Troops of Operation Fasan Yanma neutralized 8 bandits in an offensive operation along Kurfi – Batsari early this morning," the statement read.
Weapons Recovery and Troop Casualty
Following the successful operation, military forces recovered weapons and other equipment from the neutralized terrorists. The Army did not provide specific details about the types or quantities of weapons seized during the operation.
While the operation was largely successful, the Army confirmed that one soldier sustained injuries during the engagement. "One of the gallant troops was wounded in action and is currently receiving medical treatment at the brigade hospital," the statement noted.
Despite this casualty, military authorities emphasized that "the situation remains calm while troops morale and fighting efficiency remain high."
Ongoing Security Efforts in Katsina
This operation represents the latest effort in the Nigerian military's ongoing campaign against terrorist groups and bandits operating in the northwestern region of the country. Katsina State, which borders Niger Republic, has experienced significant security challenges in recent years.
Operation Fasan Yanma is one of several military initiatives deployed to combat insecurity in the region, targeting armed groups responsible for kidnappings, cattle rustling, and attacks on rural communities.
The successful operation comes amid continued efforts by security agencies to restore peace and stability to affected communities in Katsina and neighboring states.
