The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has confirmed that one of its unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) was shot down in western Iran early on Monday morning, as tensions continue to escalate in the Middle East region.
"During operational activity, an Air Force unmanned aerial vehicle was downed in Iran. There is no fear of information leaking," the IDF stated in a brief announcement, without providing additional details about the mission's objectives.
Iranian state media had earlier reported that the drone was a Hermes model and was brought down over the Khorramabad area in Lorestan Province, a mountainous region in western Iran.
