The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olohundare Jimoh, has unveiled a comprehensive security plan to ensure peaceful Eid Kabir celebrations across the state. The announcement comes as part of proactive measures to maintain public safety during the upcoming religious festivities.

According to a statement released on Thursday by the Command's Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, security personnel equipped with necessary operational logistics have been strategically positioned throughout Lagos, with particular focus on identified black spots and vulnerable locations.

Strategic Security Deployments

"This is done to remove fear of crimes from the minds of all residents and visitors alike and ensure a hitch-free celebration this year and beyond," CP Jimoh stated in the release.

The security arrangement places special emphasis on Eid praying grounds, mosques, religious facilities, recreation centers, and other public spaces expected to host large gatherings. These areas will receive heightened police presence to facilitate effective crowd control, traffic management, and ease of movement throughout Lagos.

CP Jimoh emphasized that the preventive security framework being implemented is designed to forestall potential threats and enable swift response to any criminal incidents. "These measures will also nip in the bud any other security concerns that may arise," he noted, reaffirming the command's commitment to preserving public order before, during, and after the religious celebration.

Inter-Agency Collaboration

The Lagos Police Command is not working in isolation. The Commissioner revealed that they are collaborating closely with other security and emergency management agencies, including military and paramilitary units, as well as the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).

"The command will work with the military, paramilitary agencies, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, and other departments. This is to ensure adequate security, safety and protection of all residents and visitors alike during the festivities and beyond," he added.

This coordinated approach aims to provide seamless protection across all relevant fronts, creating a safe environment for Lagos residents to celebrate the important religious holiday without security concerns.

The announcement comes as Muslims across Nigeria prepare for one of the most significant celebrations in the Islamic calendar, with Lagos authorities taking proactive steps to ensure festivities proceed peacefully in Africa's largest metropolis.
