The Chief of the Air Staff (COAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has issued a stern warning to bandits and criminals threatening Nigeria's peace and stability, declaring that there would be no hiding place for enemies of the nation.

Speaking during the Second Quarter Route March held on June 4, 2025, in Abuja, the COAS reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force's unwavering commitment to defending the nation's airspace and protecting lives and property across the country.

"We will continue to defend every inch of our nation's airspace and stand firm in joint operations to protect lives and property across the country. Rest assured, that your protection is not just an obligation, it is our highest priority," Abubakar stated.

According to Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information at the Nigerian Air Force Headquarters, the COAS emphasized that protecting all Nigerians remains the NAF's highest priority.

Enhanced Operational Readiness Through Physical Fitness

In a bid to boost operational readiness, Air Marshal Abubakar highlighted the critical importance of physical fitness within the NAF ranks.

"Physical fitness is no longer a matter of choice; it is a non-negotiable requirement," he emphasized. "As a matter of policy, I have directed that all Performance Evaluation Reports must be accompanied by Physical Fitness Test Certificates. Furthermore, no personnel will be considered for promotion without being medically and physically fit."

The Air Chief also revealed plans for infrastructure development to support this initiative, announcing his approval for the construction of modern sporting facilities across several NAF bases and the procurement of advanced gym equipment for over 22 units, which will soon be distributed and installed.

Gratitude to Presidential Support

Air Marshal Abubakar expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his steadfast support of the Armed Forces, particularly highlighting the President's investment in operational effectiveness and personnel welfare.

"On behalf of the officers, airmen, and airwomen of the Nigerian Air Force, I reaffirm our unwavering loyalty to the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces," he said.

The COAS's statements come amid ongoing security challenges in various parts of the country, signaling the military's renewed determination to tackle threats to national security head-on.
