Former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Yusufu Buratai (Rtd.), has expressed deep condolences to the Nigerian Army and families of 17 soldiers who lost their lives during a clash with suspected bandits in Bangi community, Mariga Local Government Area of Niger State.
In a statement released on Thursday, Buratai praised the Nigerian military's unwavering commitment to national security and called for collaborative efforts among all security agencies and citizens to overcome the country's security challenges.
"I have full confidence that the Nigerian military will do its best to surmount the security challenges across the country. The support of all other security agencies is needed to achieve a secure and peaceful Nigeria," he stated.
Foundation Honors Fallen Heroes
The TY Buratai Humanity Care Foundation joined the Nigerian Army in honoring the fallen personnel, describing the incident as a painful reminder of the sacrifices made by military personnel in the line of duty.
Ibrahim Dahiru Danfulani Sadaukin Garkuwan Keffi/Betara Biu, Chairman of the foundation, emphasized the importance of national unity and continued support for the troops, particularly during challenging times.
Under the leadership of its Grand Patron, Amb. Lt. Gen. Tukur Yusufu Buratai (Rtd.), the foundation expressed appreciation for the aerial support provided by the Nigerian Air Force during the encounter and reiterated the need for national solidarity.
"As the nation mourns its heroes, the call for unity and resilience resonates louder than ever," the statement added.
The attack in Niger State highlights the ongoing security challenges facing Nigeria's northern regions, where armed groups continue to pose significant threats to communities and security forces alike.
