The Ogun State Police Command has arraigned three individuals before an Ota Magistrate Court for allegedly stealing a Point of Sale (POS) machine and other items valued at N168,500.

The defendants, identified as Dominic Daniel, 22, Edet Israel, 21, and Audra Anthony, 25, pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of stealing and conspiracy brought against them.

Details of the Alleged Crime

According to police prosecutor Inspector E.O. Adaraloye, the trio allegedly stole a POS machine, a bottle of Jack Daniels whiskey, and other items worth N168,500 from a hotel owned by Busola Onayemi. The prosecutor stated that the defendants had lodged at the hotel before committing the alleged theft.

The offences reportedly contravene sections 390 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun State, 2006.

Court Proceedings and Bail Conditions

Magistrate O.O. Fadairo granted each defendant bail in the sum of N30,000 with one surety each in like sum. The court stipulated that each surety must be a resident of Ogun State, gainfully employed, and provide evidence of tax payments to the state government.

The case has been adjourned until June for further hearing as the legal proceedings continue.
