Nigeria's Flamingos will discover their group opponents for the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup on Wednesday when the official draw ceremony takes place in Rabat, Morocco.

The tournament will feature 24 countries for the first time in its history, expanding from the previous format to allow more nations to participate in the prestigious youth competition.

Nigeria Placed in Pot 1

The Flamingos have been seeded in Pot 1 alongside tournament hosts Morocco, defending champions North Korea, Spain, Japan, and the United States. This favorable seeding reflects Nigeria's strong standing in women's youth football.

Nigeria will be making their eighth appearance at the biennial competition, highlighting the country's consistency in qualifying for the tournament and cementing their status as one of Africa's footballing powerhouses.

Preparation in Full Swing

Coach Bankole Olowookere's team has been actively preparing for the tournament, with the squad recently participating in the women's football event at the 2024 National Sports Festival as part of their build-up to the World Cup.

The Flamingos secured their qualification for Morocco 2025 with an impressive 4-0 victory over Algeria in Ikenne during the qualifying rounds, demonstrating their readiness to compete at the highest level.

Morocco will serve as the host nation for the tournament, with Africa having a strong representation of five teams at the competition, including Nigeria and the hosts.

Football fans across Nigeria will be eagerly awaiting Wednesday's draw to see which teams the Flamingos will face in their group stage matches as they aim to improve on their previous performances in the tournament.
