Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has reaffirmed his administration's unwavering commitment to religious freedom, equity, and inclusiveness in the state, acknowledging the crucial role religious organizations play in fostering peace and development.

The Governor made this declaration while speaking at a Thanksgiving Service and Symposium marking the first anniversary of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Ogun State Chapter's Executive members under the chairmanship of Rt. Revd. Emmanuel Adekunle, Bishop of Egba Anglican Diocese.

Represented by Head of Service Kehinde Onasanya at the event held at Bishop's Court, Onikolobo, Abeokuta, Governor Abiodun praised the harmonious relationship among religious bodies in the state, which has created an environment where people of all faiths can practice their beliefs without fear.

"We are proud of the religious harmony that exists in our dear State and we will do all within our power to preserve and promote it," Abiodun stated. He further urged the CAN leadership to reflect not only on past achievements but also on the responsibilities ahead, noting that "there is still work to be done in our communities, our dear State and great nation, Nigeria."

The Governor congratulated the State CAN Chairman and his Executive Council members for their year of accountability and transparency, encouraging them to continue serving with diligence and fear of God, emphasizing that leadership is a trust to be held in high esteem rather than merely a title.

In their goodwill messages, the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, and the Ajalaye of Ijebu Ilugun South, Alayeluwa Oba Emmanuel Olusanu, congratulated Rt. Revd. Adekunle on the milestone.

The Head of Catholic Secretariat, Most Revd. Peter Odetoyinbo, in his exhortation, admonished all to continue heeding God's commands, love one another, and use the occasion to renew their commitment to God. He emphasized that competition, supremacy tussles, bitterness, and envy must be shunned for better service to God.

CAN Chairman Rt. Revd. Emmanuel Adekunle expressed appreciation to the executive members for their support, diligence, and commitment, calling for continued steadfastness in God's service. He prayed for divine guidance throughout their 5-year tenure.

The event was attended by distinguished religious leaders including the Archbishop of the Lagos Province Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) and Bishop of the Diocese of Remo, Most Revd. Olusina Fape, among other dignitaries.
