Former Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen have placed a €50 million price tag on Nigerian striker Victor Boniface as they look to sell him during the summer transfer window.

The German club reportedly aims to use funds from Boniface's potential sale to finance new signings following the departure of their former head coach Xabi Alonso to Real Madrid.

Boniface, 24, was previously close to joining Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr in January for a reported €70 million. However, the Saudi Pro League side ultimately opted to sign Jhon Duran from Aston Villa instead.

The Nigerian international's 2024/25 season was hampered by persistent injuries, which affected his consistency on the pitch. Despite these challenges, Boniface managed to score 11 goals in 27 appearances across all competitions for Leverkusen.

Boniface joined Die Werkself in 2023 from Belgian Pro League club Union Saint-Gilloise, where he had established himself as a formidable striker. Recent reports have linked him with a potential move to Newcastle United, while Italian giants Juventus have also reportedly included him on their striker shortlist.

The transfer speculation comes amid significant changes at Bayer Leverkusen, with former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag reportedly agreeing to become the club's new head coach following Alonso's exit.

As the summer transfer window approaches, Boniface's situation will be closely monitored by Nigerian football fans and potential suitors across Europe's top leagues.
