Two people have died amid celebrations following Paris Saint-Germain's historic first Champions League victory, French authorities confirmed on Sunday.

The Ligue 1 champions secured their maiden Champions League trophy with a commanding 5-0 win over Inter Milan on Saturday night, triggering widespread celebrations across France that unfortunately turned violent in some areas.

According to reports, a man in his 20s died in Paris after his scooter was struck by a car during the celebrations. In a separate incident, a teenager was fatally stabbed in Dax. Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding both deaths.

The national police service also reported that a police officer in Coutances, northwest France, was accidentally hit by fireworks during the celebrations. The officer has been placed in an artificial coma due to severe eye injuries.

The incidents marred what should have been a night of pure celebration for PSG supporters. Following the team's triumph, the Eiffel Tower was illuminated in the club's colors as fans partied throughout the night across the French capital.

The victory represents a significant milestone for PSG, who had previously fallen short in their quest for European glory despite substantial investment in world-class talent over the past decade. Saturday's dominant performance finally delivered the prestigious trophy that had long eluded the Parisian club.

In recognition of their outstanding performance, UEFA named PSG's Ousmane Dembele as the Player of the Season following the final. Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger also provided analysis on why PSG was able to secure such a convincing victory against the Italian side.

The triumph has also sparked discussions about potential Ballon d'Or contenders for 2025, with several PSG players now firmly in the conversation following their Champions League success.
