Inter Milan president Giuseppe Marotta has affirmed the club's intention to retain manager Simone Inzaghi despite their crushing 5-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League final.

The heavy loss marks Inter's second Champions League final disappointment in three seasons, following their narrow defeat to Manchester City in Istanbul two years ago.

Speaking to reporters after the match, Marotta was clear about the club's position: "This defeat will not have an impact. Inzaghi has a contract for another year and we had already decided to meet with him this week."

The Inter president further explained the club's approach to contract negotiations, stating, "We are meeting with the coach because this club is not used to letting a manager go into the final year of his contract."

Inzaghi's current deal with the Italian giants is set to expire in June 2026, and the planned meeting suggests the club is looking to extend his tenure despite the disappointing European campaign conclusion.

The comprehensive defeat to PSG has raised questions about Inter's ability to compete at the highest level of European football, but the club's leadership appears committed to maintaining stability in the managerial position.

Inter Milan, who have enjoyed domestic success under Inzaghi's leadership, will now need to regroup as they prepare for the upcoming Serie A season and another potential Champions League campaign.
