Nigerian international Victor Osimhen has been named among five strikers Manchester United are targeting ahead of new manager Ruben Amorim's imminent squad overhaul.
The 26-year-old Napoli striker, currently on loan at Turkish side Galatasaray, is expected to make a permanent move away from the Serie A club during the summer transfer window.
Osimhen has been in scintillating form this season, scoring his 26th goal in the Turkish top-flight league on Friday as Galatasaray defeated İstanbul Başakşehir 2-0. This latest strike brings his total tally to an impressive 37 goals across all competitions for the Turkish giants this season.
The match against İstanbul Başakşehir marked Osimhen's final appearance for Galatasaray as his loan deal expires this summer, with the Nigerian now set to return to Napoli before his expected permanent departure.
According to a report by the Sun UK, Manchester United have identified Osimhen as one of their key striker targets. The other four forwards on their shortlist include Viktor Gyokeres (Sporting Lisbon), Liam Delap (Ipswich Town), Hugo Ekitike (Eintracht Frankfurt), and Moise Kean (Fiorentina).
However, United may face competition for some of these targets, with Delap reportedly close to joining Premier League rivals Chelsea.
Manchester United's interest in Osimhen comes as no surprise given his consistent goal-scoring record over recent seasons. The Nigerian striker first rose to prominence at Lille before making his big-money move to Napoli, where he played a crucial role in their historic Serie A title win in the 2022/23 season.
With Amorim set to reshape the Manchester United squad, securing a prolific striker appears to be high on the Portuguese manager's priority list as the Red Devils look to improve their attacking options for the upcoming season.
