The Niger State Commissioner of Police, Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, has issued a stern warning to police officers to maintain professional conduct and avoid partisan behavior when dealing with political parties during the forthcoming local government elections in the state.

The directive came during a strategic meeting held in Minna with senior officers of the command, including Heads of Departments, tactical commanders, area commanders, and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) from all 25 local government areas of the state.

"The forthcoming local government elections in the state has been slated for November 1, 2025, and campaign processes have commenced till October 31. Officers are therefore warned to be professional in dealing with all political parties involved," CP Elleman stated.

Security Preparations for Eid-el-Kabir

The Commissioner also addressed security arrangements for the upcoming Eid-el-Kabir celebration, expected to be held on Friday, June 6, 2025. He directed officers to comply with the operation order drawn up for the occasion, emphasizing the need for visibility policing, show of force, and adequate deployment of operational assets and personnel to cover Eid praying grounds across the state to ensure a hitch-free celebration.

In his address, CP Elleman commended officers for their efforts in tackling thuggery and other vices within Minna metropolis and other major cities in Niger State. He noted that "the menace of thuggery is relatively calm" and urged officers "to sustain the measures put in place to address these challenges."

The strategic meeting underscores the police command's commitment to maintaining peace and order during both the electoral process and religious festivities in Niger State, with emphasis on impartiality and professionalism from all officers.
