Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has urged the club to accept a reported £100 million offer from Saudi Pro League giants Al-Hilal for captain Bruno Fernandes.
Al-Hilal, looking to strengthen their squad ahead of next month's FIFA Club World Cup, have reportedly approached the Portuguese midfielder's representatives to discuss a potential move to the Middle East.
Speaking on the Overlap Fan Debate, Scholes was emphatic about what Manchester United should do with the substantial offer: "They are talking about £100m for him. Man United cannot say no to that."
The former United midfielder also questioned Fernandes' role in the team's system, adding: "What is his position? Do you see him as a number 10? Do you see him as a holding midfielder? He almost confuses the whole system."
Fernandes, 30, has been a standout performer for Manchester United this season despite the club's disappointing 15th-place finish in the Premier League. The former Sporting CP star contributed 19 goals and 18 assists across 57 appearances in all competitions.
Al-Hilal's interest comes as they prepare for the FIFA Club World Cup, with reports also linking them to Cristiano Ronaldo this summer as they aim to make a significant impact in the tournament.
The Saudi club has reportedly held discussions with Fernandes' entourage in an attempt to convince the midfielder to make the switch to the Saudi Pro League.
Manchester United fans have previously criticized Fernandes for his lack of a defined position within the team, an issue that Scholes highlighted in his assessment of the potential transfer.
With the transfer window approaching and Manchester United looking to rebuild after a disappointing season, the club faces a crucial decision regarding their captain's future.
