Napoli has demanded Rasmus Hojlund plus £33.6 million from Manchester United for Victor Osimhen's signature in the summer transfer window, according to reports from Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.
Manchester United are actively seeking to strengthen their attacking options after failing to secure any silverware during the 2024/25 season under manager Ruben Amorim. The club has intensified negotiations for the Nigerian striker as they look to bolster their squad ahead of the new campaign.
According to the report, United's director of football Matt Hargreaves traveled to Italy last week for discussions with Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis and sporting director Giovanni Manna to explore the possibility of signing Osimhen.
The 26-year-old Nigerian international has a £63 million release clause in his contract with Napoli, which is only valid for clubs outside Italy. Osimhen is currently on loan at Turkish side Galatasaray, with the agreement set to expire in June, leaving his future uncertain.
Manchester United had initially targeted Ipswich Town's Liam Delap, who has a £30 million relegation release clause in his contract. However, reports suggest the 22-year-old prefers a move to Chelsea, prompting United to explore alternative options.
Potential Swap Deal
The proposed deal would see Danish striker Rasmus Hojlund move to Naples as part of the transfer, with Manchester United adding £33.6 million in cash to secure Osimhen's services. This arrangement would value the Nigerian striker below his release clause but would provide Napoli with both financial compensation and a replacement forward.
Osimhen has attracted interest from several European clubs, with Chelsea also reportedly among the teams competing for his signature. The striker's future remains undecided as he evaluates his options following the conclusion of his loan spell in Turkey.
Manchester United's pursuit of Osimhen signals their intent to add proven goalscoring talent to their squad as they aim to return to challenging for major honors in the upcoming season.
