Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, has called on Nigerian youths to embrace artificial intelligence (AI) and digital economy opportunities rather than listening to naysayers about the current administration.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television's Youth Forum on Thursday, a programme marking President Bola Tinubu's second year in office, Tijani emphasized that young Nigerians have unprecedented access to technology that can help them succeed.
"Do not listen to naysayers, do not participate in those who are wondering if this is a government that is there to serve them," the minister advised. "You live in a time of artificial intelligence. You don't even need help. Go into your ChatGPT or any generating AI of your choice."
Government Initiatives for Youth Development
Tijani highlighted several government initiatives aimed at supporting young Nigerians, including the installation of fiber optic internet in university hostels. He encouraged youths to conduct research to discover available government programmes and take advantage of these opportunities.
"Your generation belongs to the AI people, leverage it. Find this information, you will see the link," Tijani stated. "We're now taking fiber optic internet into university hostels."
The minister assured that government programmes are accessible to all Nigerians regardless of tribe or religion, emphasizing the Tinubu administration's commitment to creating opportunities for young people across the country.
Tinubu's Vision for Nigeria
According to Tijani, President Tinubu is focused on transforming Nigeria "from a country of promises, or a country of potentials, to one of performance."
"I think we're extremely fortunate to have a president that is focused on moving Nigeria away from a country of promises, or a country of potentials, to one of performance," he said. "A president is a leader who wants to strengthen the foundation that can actually help us build the future that we all desire."
The minister concluded by reaffirming that President Tinubu is committed to ensuring that young Nigerians have access to opportunities that will help them succeed in the digital age.
