The national coordinator of South East Renewed Hope Agenda (SERHA), Mr. Belusochukwu Enwere, has expressed confidence that the people of the South-East region will not be swayed by the newly unveiled opposition coalition ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking during the inauguration of the Enugu chapter of SERHA on Friday, Enwere emphasized that President Bola Tinubu has demonstrated genuine commitment towards developing the South-East zone, making the opposition coalition unattractive to the region.
"With the establishment of the South East Development Commission (SEDC), which is now fully operational, opportunities for growth and addressing pressing challenges in the region will be unlocked," Enwere stated.
Earlier this week, opposition leaders had unveiled the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as their official platform to challenge President Tinubu's re-election bid in 2027. However, Enwere dismissed any potential threat from this coalition, asserting that the Igbo people have witnessed tangible evidence of Tinubu's commitment to improving infrastructure in the zone.
Renewed Hope for South-East Development
During the inauguration ceremony, Enwere charged the newly installed Enugu chapter members to educate others about the Tinubu administration's ongoing projects in the region.
"This initiative was conceived to showcase the progress and development under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Supporters and stakeholders were drawn from Enugu State, all the local governments in the state, as well as all the wards," he explained.
Enwere highlighted several achievements of the current administration, noting: "The strides recorded so far on the economy by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and notable achievements in education, health, infrastructure, housing, power, among others, should be commended."
He expressed optimism about the future of the region under Tinubu's leadership, stating, "We know that with the president at the helm of affairs, the South East will be developed. The South East will benefit from the dividends of democracy and our people will be better for it."
The South East Development Commission, which Enwere described as one of the major achievements of the Tinubu administration in the region, is expected to play a crucial role in addressing longstanding infrastructural deficits and promoting economic growth across the five southeastern states.
