Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has pledged to deliver significantly stronger support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 general election, promising to triple the votes the president received in the state during the 2023 polls.

The governor made this declaration on Thursday during an event marking the second anniversary of his administration at the Haliru Abdu Stadium in Birnin Kebbi.

"We will triple the votes President Tinubu got in 2023 come 2027," Governor Idris vowed to loud applause from attendees at the celebration.

Federal Presence Drives Support

Idris highlighted that prior to the Tinubu administration, Kebbi State had experienced minimal federal presence in terms of infrastructure and development projects. He credited the current federal government with initiating numerous developmental initiatives across the state.

"With the emergence of the Tinubu administration, Kebbi is now witnessing a series of developmental projects," the governor stated, adding that the people of Kebbi have no justification not to support Tinubu's re-election bid considering the level of federal intervention now being experienced in the state.

APC Stronghold

The governor also emphasized Kebbi's position as a stronghold for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), noting the unusual unity among the state's political leadership.

"You hardly see a state where four former and serving governors come under one roof. This clearly shows Kebbi is an APC stronghold," Idris remarked during the anniversary celebration.

The governor's pledge comes as political parties begin early positioning for the 2027 general elections, with the APC seeking to consolidate its hold on power and President Tinubu potentially seeking a second term in office.
