Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon head coach Jean Baptiste Bisseck has unveiled a 24-player squad for the upcoming double-header friendly matches against Nigeria's Super Falcons.
The squad features experienced players including Achta Njoya, Gabrielle Onguene, and Ashley Ngone, who will lead the Cameroonian side against the nine-time African champions.
The first friendly match is scheduled to take place at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne on Saturday, while the second encounter will be held at the newly renovated MKO Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta next Tuesday.
The Indomitable Lionesses arrived in Nigeria on Friday ahead of the fixtures, which serve as preparation for both teams ahead of upcoming competitions.
This will be the first meeting between the two sides since their last encounter in a 2024 Olympic Games qualifier, where Nigeria secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Cameroon.
The friendlies come at a crucial time as both teams prepare for the upcoming Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) 2024, for which the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has already released the Super Falcons' match schedule.
Nigeria's preparation for WAFCON 2024 has seen several developments, including the reinstatement of the team's fitness coach, Karlsson, and the arrival of key players such as Rasheedat Ajibade, Ashleigh Alozie, and Rinsola Babajide for the Cameroon friendlies.
Ajibade has emphasized the importance of these friendly matches in the team's preparation, highlighting their value for building cohesion and testing tactics ahead of competitive fixtures.
The Super Falcons are also scheduled to face Portugal in another pre-WAFCON friendly as they continue their preparations for the continental championship.
